In the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), player salaries are structured with specific caps to maintain competitive balance and financial stability.
As of 2024, the maximum monthly salary for a player is ₱420,000, equating to an annual salary of ₱5,040,000.
The minimum monthly salary is set at ₱70,000. Teams are also subject to a total salary cap of ₱50 million per season.
Rookie players have a distinct salary structure.
The top three draft picks can sign contracts at the maximum salary.
Other rookies are limited to a monthly salary of ₱200,000 in their first year, which can increase to ₱250,000 in their second year. In addition to base salaries, players can earn performance-based bonuses.
These bonuses are regulated to prevent excessive compensation.
For instance, a player may receive up to one-fourth of their monthly salary as a bonus for reaching the quarterfinals, three-fourths for the semifinals, and up to one and a half times their monthly salary for reaching the finals.
Championship bonuses are not capped, allowing teams to reward players at their discretion.
While these figures represent official salaries, many PBA players supplement their income through endorsements and other commercial activities, which can significantly enhance their overall earnings.
